Cold plunge pool installation in Dubai
Cold plunge is the one wellness fitting where the UAE genuinely makes life harder. Holding water at 8°C when the ambient is 45°C and the ground temperature never really drops is a refrigeration problem, and it is where almost every cheap installation falls over — the chiller runs continuously, cannot keep up, and dies inside two summers.
The answer is not a bigger chiller. It is insulation. A properly insulated tank with a modest correctly-sized chiller will hold temperature through August while a bare fibreglass shell with a large chiller will not. We build for the insulation first and size the refrigeration to what is left.
What the build involves
Insulation before refrigeration
The tank is insulated on all faces including the base — closed-cell foam, not fibre — and fitted with an insulated lid. An uninsulated plunge pool in a Dubai courtyard gains heat continuously from the air, the ground and direct sun, and the chiller spends its life fighting all three. Insulate properly and the chiller runs perhaps a quarter of the time, which is the difference between a ten year unit and a two year one.
Chiller sizing and siting
Sizing is based on tank volume, insulation quality, expected ambient and how often the lid is off. The chiller itself must sit somewhere ventilated and shaded — putting an air-cooled condenser in a hot enclosed plant cupboard is self-defeating, and it is the second most common fault we find on plunge pools built by others.
Water treatment
Cold water holds oxygen well and grows biofilm slowly, but plunge pools are small volumes with high bather loads, so treatment matters. We specify cartridge filtration plus UV and ozone, which keeps chemical dosing low. Low chemical levels matter more here than in a swimming pool because users submerge fully and often daily.
Where it sits in the sequence
A plunge pool works hardest when it is next to the heat. Sauna, then plunge, then rest, then repeat — that is the sequence, and it only works if the plunge is within a few steps. Building it across a garden from the sauna means it will get used far less than you expect.

Two things drive this price. First, whether the pool is a placed object or an excavated in-ground build — excavation, tanking and tiling roughly double the figure. Second, chiller capacity, which is set by how well the tank is insulated. Spending on insulation reduces spending on refrigeration and on electricity for the next decade.

How much does a cold plunge pool cost in Dubai?
A pre-formed plunge tub with a chiller runs AED 28,000 to 45,000. An insulated stainless unit is AED 45,000 to 68,000. A tiled in-ground plunge pool is AED 65,000 to 110,000. Commercial installations start around AED 95,000.
Can a chiller really hold 8°C in a Dubai summer?
Yes, provided the tank is properly insulated and the chiller is sited somewhere shaded and ventilated. The failures we get called to are almost always uninsulated tanks or condensers installed in hot cupboards, not undersized chillers.
What does it cost to run?
Far less than most people assume if the tank is insulated and lidded — the chiller cycles rather than running continuously. An uninsulated pool with the lid left off can cost several times as much, which is the real argument for spending on insulation up front.
How much space do I need?
A two person plunge needs about 1.2 by 1.0 metres of water plus access, and roughly 1.0 by 0.6 metres somewhere ventilated for the plant. It does not need to be adjacent — plant can sit up to about 10 metres away.
How often does it need cleaning?
Cartridge rinse weekly, cartridge replacement every few months, and a full drain-down and clean quarterly. With UV and ozone fitted, chemical dosing stays minimal between drain-downs.
Should the plunge be next to the sauna?
Yes, and it matters more than people expect. The contrast sequence only works if the plunge is a few steps away. A plunge pool at the far end of the garden gets used a fraction as often.
