The ceiling fall figure is the height difference across the room at 3°. Decide it at framing stage — it cannot be retrofitted into a tiled room.

How steam room sizing works
Steam rooms need more headroom than saunas
A sauna wants a low ceiling so heat stays where people sit. A steam room needs enough height to form a fall of at least 3 degrees and still stand up — which is why 2.2 to 2.4 metres is the working range, and below 2.1 metres it becomes difficult.
The ceiling fall figure
Condensation forms on the coldest surface, which is the ceiling. On a flat ceiling it collects and drips cold onto whoever is below. A fall of 3 degrees sends it to a wall to run down harmlessly. Across a 2 metre span that is about 105 mm of height difference — trivial to build in, impossible to retrofit once tiled.
Bench depth is shallower than a sauna's
450 to 500 mm rather than 500 to 600. People sit rather than lie in a steam room, and a deeper bench mostly reduces the clear floor you need for moving around in a wet space.
Drainage scales with area
Up to about 3.5 square metres a trapped point drain is fine. Beyond that, a linear drain along one wall handles both condensate and cleaning water better. Either way the trap has to be one that will not dry out between uses, or the room will smell of drains.
Volume drives the generator, tile derates it
Same rule as the generator calculator: volume in cubic metres multiplied by a finish factor. The chart below assumes large-format porcelain, so adjust upward for natural stone.

What ceiling height does a steam room need?
2.2 to 2.4 metres. You need enough height to form a fall of at least 3 degrees for condensation and still stand comfortably. Below 2.1 metres it becomes difficult.

At least 3 degrees toward a wall — about 105 mm of height difference across a 2 metre span. It has to be decided at framing stage, because retro-forming a ceiling in a finished tiled room is a demolition job.
Point drain or linear drain?
Point drain up to about 3.5 square metres of floor. Linear beyond that, and for any commercial room, because it copes better with cleaning water as well as condensate.
