Sauna room installation in Dubai
Most saunas that fail in Dubai fail for the same three reasons: the vapour barrier was stapled instead of taped, the bench timber had knots in it, and the heater was sized for the floor area rather than the room volume. None of those are visible on handover day. All three show up somewhere between month eight and year two.
We build custom sauna rooms as a sealed system — insulated shell, continuous foil barrier, ventilated cavity, knot-free cladding and a heater matched to the cubic volume. The result heats in thirty minutes, holds temperature without cycling constantly, and does not warp when the room outside it sits at 45°C for five months of the year.
What the build involves
The shell and the vapour barrier
A sauna is a box inside a box. We frame in treated timber, pack the cavity with 50mm mineral wool, then line the warm side with aluminium foil barrier — overlapped 100mm and taped at every joint, never stapled through. Staple holes let moisture into the insulation, and wet insulation stops insulating. This layer is the single biggest difference between a cabin that lasts fifteen years and one that smells of damp by year three.
Cladding and bench timber
Walls and ceiling go in Nordic spruce or hemlock; benches go in knot-free abachi or aspen. The distinction matters because knots conduct heat far faster than surrounding timber and reach skin-burning temperature in a room already at 90°C. Bench slats are spaced 8mm apart for airflow and fixed from underneath, so no fixing head ever touches skin.
Heater sizing and electrics
Roughly 1kW of heater per cubic metre of cabin, adjusted upward for glass area and downward for a well-insulated internal room. A 4-person cabin typically lands on a 6kW unit needing a dedicated 32A circuit. From 9kW you generally need three phase, which villas usually have and apartments usually do not. We open your distribution board at survey rather than discovering the problem on installation day.
Ventilation and commissioning
Air inlet low beside the heater, outlet high on the opposite wall, sized so the cabin turns its air over three to six times an hour. Without it the room stratifies, the upper bench cooks and the lower bench stays lukewarm. We run a full heat cycle at handover and verify the temperature at both bench heights against the specification before we hand over the keys.

The three things that move a sauna quote most are glass area, timber grade and heater rating. A full-height glass front adds AED 8,000 to 15,000 and pushes the heater up a size because glass loses heat far faster than an insulated wall. Thermowood cladding costs roughly 40% more than spruce but survives outdoor and semi-outdoor positions that spruce will not.

How much does a sauna room cost to install in Dubai?
A compact two person cabin runs AED 32,000 to 48,000 installed. A standard four person sauna is AED 45,000 to 72,000. A six person cabin with a glass front reaches AED 95,000. Commercial cabins for gyms and hotels start around AED 95,000. Those figures include timber, insulation, heater, electrical second fix, glass and commissioning.
How long does sauna installation take?
Six to ten weeks for a custom cabin from signed quote to commissioning. Roughly half of that is timber lead time. If you need it faster, a pre-built modular cabin is delivered and assembled in two to four weeks.
What size room do I need for a sauna?
A two person sauna needs about 1.2 by 1.5 metres of floor and 2.1 metres of ceiling height. Four people need 1.8 by 2.0 metres. Ceiling height matters more than people expect — anything above 2.3 metres wastes heater capacity warming air nobody is sitting in.
Which sauna wood is best for the UAE climate?
Nordic spruce and hemlock for internal cabins, thermowood for anything exposed to outdoor humidity swings. Cedar smells wonderful and resists moisture but costs considerably more. What matters more than species is that bench timber is knot-free, because knots get hot enough to burn skin.
Can I convert a bathroom into a sauna?
Yes, and it is one of the cheaper routes because the room already has the electrical run and often a floor drain. The main checks are ceiling height, whether the existing tiles need removing, and whether the distribution board has a spare way for a dedicated heater circuit.
