How to choose sauna steam room suppliers in Dubai
There are a lot of companies in this market and the range in quality is wide. Some build rooms. Some resell cabins and subcontract the installation. Some are joinery companies who took on a sauna once.
You cannot tell which is which from a website. You can tell from about six questions, and here they are.
Ask them to size the heater and explain how
The right answer references cubic metres and glass area. The wrong answer references floor area, or a size chosen because 'that's what we usually fit for this kind of room'.
This one question separates people who understand the physics from people who resell boxes, and it takes thirty seconds to ask.
Ask what happens to the vapour barrier
You want to hear: foil barrier on the warm side, 100mm overlaps, taped at every joint and every penetration, never stapled through the face, then a battened cavity before cladding.
If the answer is vague, or the barrier is described as optional, or they mention stapling it up, walk away. This is the layer that determines whether a cabin lasts fifteen years.
For steam, ask about the waterproofing system by name
You want a named liquid-applied membrane system with reinforcing tapes at corners and penetrations, taken 100mm up every wall.
If someone offers a paint-on acrylic 'tanking' product as the primary waterproofing on a steam room, that is the answer to your question about whether to use them.
Ask who does the electrical work
An answer of 'you arrange your own electrician' means you own the risk at the handover point, which is exactly where these projects fail.
Ask whether commissioning is included and what it consists of. A real answer describes a full heat or steam cycle with temperatures verified at bench height against the specification.
Ask about the ceiling, if it is a steam room
A supplier who has built steam rooms will mention the fall before you ask. One who has not will say the ceiling is flat and tiled to match.
A flat ceiling drips condensate on whoever is below it and cannot be corrected afterwards without demolition. It is the fastest tell in this category.
Ask what happens in year three
For steam: how often does the generator need descaling in UAE water, and do they offer it? The correct answer is every six months, and anyone who says annually or 'when it stops working' has not maintained many generators here.
For sauna: what does an annual service include, and do they hold parts for the heater brand they are fitting? Parts availability matters far more in year six than brand prestige did in year one.
Practical checks
Ask for photographs of their own work at construction stage, not just finished rooms. Anyone can photograph a finished cabin; framing and barrier photographs show whether they built it.
Ask for the trade licence name and check the activity covers what they are proposing to do.
Ask what the warranty covers and for how long, and specifically whether it covers waterproofing on a steam room. That is the expensive failure.
Get the specification in writing before you compare prices. Two quotes without specifications are not comparable at all.
